William V. Mittler, 78, of Brunswick, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Elyria, Ohio on May 7, 1942 to the late James and Stella Pawlizak Mittler.
In 1962 William fell in love with Marian White and they married in 1964. They lived in Berea, Ohio for ten years and then built their house in Brunswick Hills where they lived for 40 years raising a family. They often spent their summers with family and friends at their cottage on the Sandusky Bay.
Bill, always interested in technology, was employed as a TV repairman with Little Joe’s in Elyria and then worked in the tool & die trade for 42 years at the Parma GM Plant. After graduating Elyria Catholic High School, he kept educating himself in many fields and received his Captain’s license as a Merchant Marine Officer.
He was an antique radio enthusiast and a member of the Buckeye Antique Radio and Phonograph Club, serving as president for many years. Many of his friends he met at hamfests and swap meets while hunting down vintage radios and other treasures.
Bill’s greatest passion later in life was cats. He was instrumental in the start up of Kitten Krazy in Medina which he loved to support and volunteered endless hours. The Mittler’s Flea Market at Kitten Krazy was named in honor of Bill. He also volunteered at Purr-fect Companions in Cleveland and other animal shelters.
Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Marian (Bobo White) sons: Bill (Tiina) Mittler, Bob (Katy) Mittler, Joe Mittler, and Jim (Blanca) Mittler; loving grandchildren Majestic, Morgan, Maeghan, Makana, Madeline, Michael, Nicholas, Aspen and Holden. He is also survived by brother Roger (Donna) Mittler and a sister Elaine (Robert) Rotz.
There will be a private viewing for the family on Wednesday.
Family and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road Valley City. Face Masks are required. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
