William C. “Bill” Hunter, devoted husband, loving father, and humble friend to all, was surrounded by family as he passed to eternal peace on Saturday, May 14, 2022, after a long illness.
Bill, one of three children of Matthew S. and Sarah I. Hunter, was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1957, Bill married Sara A. “Sally” Leety. After a variety of jobs, he eventually retired from the Medina (OH) City Water Department.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Sally, his sister, Virginia (Jim) Robertson, his four children, Barbara (Rick) Yuschak, Mary (Christopher) Hawk, Charles (Jody) Hunter, and Nancy (the late Jim) Boresh, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Martha (Len) McElhaney, and his son-in-law, Jim Boresh, and his grandson, Jeremyah Boresh. Bill also loved his “fur babies,” Carmel and Mollie.
Bill’s world revolved around his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was instrumental in sponsoring full-family vacations at the beach and Mohican State Park for many years. Bill’s specialty was creating special rules for these vacations, such as, “No matter what the score, Grandpa wins!”
Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 6656 Center Road, Valley City, followed directly by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m.
Private family inurnment was held with full Military Honors at Eastlawn Memory Gardens, Brunswick, Ohio.
