Walter Dill, 89, of Brunswick, entered his heavenly home on June 11, 2023.
Walter was born in Lithuania May 22, 1934, to the late Johann and Karolina (nee Keller) Dill. Walter and his family moved to the United States from Germany in 1951 and settled in Howard Lake, Minnesota before moving to Cleveland in 1952. Walter married Magdalena (nee Krieger) and moved to Wickliffe, and then to Brunswick. After Magdalena’s passing, Walter moved to a new home with his son, Walter, Jr. in Brunswick.
Walter grew up working on farms and learned tailoring in Cleveland. He was a metal machinist and quality control inspector in the Cleveland area. He married his true love, Magdalena, at Zion Lutheran Church in Downtown Cleveland on October 27, 1962. They were married 56 years. His faith in God was of the utmost importance followed by his love for family. He was proud of his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Walter was a fixer and a mender always reusing things he saved to improve things around the house. He enjoyed working outside, working on his cars, cutting hair, sewing, researching family history, was very social, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving children, Walter Jr. Dill; Manfred (Susan) Dill and Linda (Dennis II) Goodhart; cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Steven, Eric, Alaina and Dennis III: dear brother Julius (Almut) Dill, sister-in law Wanda (+Johann) Dill, sister-in-law Bertha (+Erwin) Dill and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Magdalena, his parents, brothers, Ewald, Johann, Erwin and sisters, Alma (Oswald) Hempel, Erna (Ferdinand) Rein.
Calling hours are 3:00-7:00 pm, Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City. There will be an hour viewing at the church on Monday prior to the service. Funeral Service is 11:00 am. Monday, June 19, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road Valley City, Ohio. Rev. Dr. Walther P. Marcis, officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Memorial Gardens, Hinckley, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at St. Paul’s Fellowship Hall following the burial.
