Verona Piechuta Obituary

Verona S. Piechuta

Verona Catherine Schultz Piechuta, age 94, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025, with her family at her side.

Verona was born January 1, 1931, in Cleveland.  She is survived by her sons, Mike (Jamie) and Mark (Charlene), her daughter Victoria Oboy (Mark), her brother, William Schultz (Betty), her grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole), David (Emily), John (Valerie, deceased), Matthew (Kasumi), Zachary Oboy (Hailey Harshey) and Lydia Oboy, and great-grandchildren, Wesley, Franklin, Evelyn, Maria, Thena and Eleanor.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Paul, her brother, George Schultz, and her sister, Florence Schultz.

Verona graduated from Lakewood High School in 1948.  She had various secretarial and administrative jobs, retiring from her position as office manager in the Business Division of Baldwin-Wallace College in 1996.  Verona lived in Litchfield for 40 years before moving to Forest Meadow Villas in Medina, where she lived for 12 years and appreciated the Medina County Meals on Wheels program which provided a daily lunch for her there.  She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Church in Valley City for 54 years, where especially over the last few years she enjoyed the support of the parishioners through their cards, visits and prayers.

Verona’s hobbies included crocheting, needlepoint, knitting, sewing and gardening.  She also enjoyed reading and was very appreciative of the staff of the Medina County District Library Bookmobile for bringing her favorite genre of books to her.

Verona’s family would like to express their personal appreciation to the caregivers at Western Reserve Masonic Community for the excellent attentive care and comfort they provided Verona since she moved there in July 2024, as well as to the caregivers at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Medina for their compassionate care during the last week of her life.  The family would also like to thank the Eucharistic Ministers and others from St. Francis Xavier Church for their dedicated and faithful service to Verona and the other residents at Western Reserve Masonic Community and the patients at the Hospice of the Western Reserve.  Verona was appreciative of all who cared for and supported her physically and spiritually.
