Thomas J. French, 94, of Spencer, Ohio passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side, Friday, January 14, 2022.

Thomas was born May 12, 1927 in Nashville, TN to the late Kenneth and Tavia (Shedd) French. He grew up in Alabama, joined the service in 1944, moved to Cleveland, OH in 1950. But their home of 20 years in Marietta, OH was the place they loved the most. Their last move was to Spencer, OH in 2013.

Thomas served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 till 1948. He had worked in the construction field and also worked as a machinist with Eaton Corp until retiring.

Thomas and his late wife of 68 years enjoyed traveling and camping with their RV and treasured being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid golfer.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Joan (George) Kemes, Doris (Chuck) Musselman and Dolores (David) Steppenbacker. Grandchildren, Katherine (Jeffrey) Clark, Karol Ann (Chuck) Summers, Thomas Musselman, Andrew (Tammy) Steppenbacker, David (Krystal) Steppenbacker and Brian Musselman. 9 Great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie (Logan) French in 2016 and five brothers, Mack, Milton, Morris, Wayne and Billy French.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
