Tamara (Hein) Derksen, 91, formerly of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Generation Senior Living in Berea, Ohio
Tamara was the loving wife of the late Gustav, dear mother of Ingrid (Gil) Moyer, Elisabeth (Leonard) Boroway, Peter (Karen) Derksen and the late Bernhard Derksen (Wendy). Cherished grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 9.
She was born in the Ukraine to Ludwig and Lydia Hein and after her marriage to Gustav, she immigrated to America. Her dream to own a farm became a reality in Medina County, where she enjoyed gardening, caring for the animals and gathering her bounty of fresh farm eggs. She delighted in cooking and baking and shared these talents with her children and their families.
She was a housewife, who cherished her family and serving others while her faith kept her steadfast in the Lord. Her love for music prompted her to sing in the church choir and to learn to play the guitar. She encouraged her children to get involved with music to share the beauty with others and to use it as an outlet of expression. Tamara valued life and living it to its fullest as she crossed paths with new friends, sharing stories and caring about people.
Visitation is one hour prior to the church service 10:00 am-11:00 am.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday, December 22, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2233 Abbeyville Road, Valley City, Ohio.
