Susan Rae (Klabunde) Pate

Susan Rae Pate, 78, of Valley City, Ohio went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Sue was born September 29, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Walter and Marian (Offenburg) Klabunde. She lived in Cuyahoga County until moving to Valley City in 1997. She was a 1963 graduate of West Tech High School, Cleveland.

Sue was an active and faithful member of St. Martin of Tours church, where she served as a collection counter, she was in charge of the Baking Angels and often brought communion to the homebound.  She was a member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Women in Construction.

She had worked as a Construction News Reporter for F.W. Dodge Company for many years. Sue was dedicated caregiver for many family members.

Sue was noted for her excellent cooking and baking and always willing to share   with friends and family. Sue enjoyed collecting Barbie dolls, angels, pigs and unicorns to name a few and Saturday morning shopping with her best friend Linda.

Sue will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Joe married 51 years, she went to heaven to be with her adored son Jeremy; Sue is survived by her beloved brother, Neal (Cathy) Klabunde, Special aunt to Christopher, Melissa and Caitlin. She will also be greatly missed by Joe’s brother and sisters, Bill (Ginny) Pate, Jean Ricchiuto, Mary (Joe) Kinzie, Agnes (Bob) Jedlicka and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother Carl Klabunde and Joe’s sisters, Frances and Antoinette.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Ohio.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, September 28, 2024 at St. Martin of Tours Chapel, 1800 Station Road Valley City, OH.

Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.

Memorials may be made to St. Martin of Tours Building Fund or to the Special Olympics in honor of Jeremy.
