Shirley J. Freese, 73, of Lafayette Township, Ohio passed onto heaven surrounded by her loving family at her home on Friday, February 2, 2024.
Shirley was born in Medina, Ohio on January 25, 1951. Her family has lived in the northeast corner of Lafayette Township for several generations. Shirley had a strong Christian faith witnessed by her lifetime membership to Waltz Church. She devoted many selfless hours volunteering with the “Ladies Aid” and several church activities, her favorite of which was organizing the annual Easter Egg Hunt. She made a lot of friends and great memories over several years with the Ladies Auxiliary, also know as the “Lafayette Fire Bells” for the Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department.
Shirley was a beautician working in the early years of her life at the former Blue Room Beauty Parlor in Medina and through the years cutting hair for many family members and friends. She proudly cared for many children in her home including some families for multiple generations.
She enjoyed traveling throughout our country visiting all states except Alaska and later years explored the roads on the back of a motorcycle with her husband John.
Shirley had a gift for baking and loved decoration cakes for birthdays and events for her family and friends. She loved having her grandchildren helping her in the kitchen.
Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren. If there was any activity or sporting event for these loved ones, she would be there cheering them on all the way.
Shirley loved her family more than anything and if you knew her for even a second of your life, she made you feel like part of her family and loved more than anything.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Elsie (nee Carsten) Norton and brother David Norton. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, John of 52 years, Rock Star mother of Jennifer (Kevin) Dean, Robert Freese and Kevin Freese (Victoria Lenz). Amazing grandmother of Raymond Dean, Travis Dean, Lily Freese an Ashton Martin. Dear sister of Dale (Joyce) Norton and Joann (Dwain) Barrington and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
