Robert (Bob) J. Denington, 91 of Columbia Station, Ohio passed away Wednesday April 27, 2022. Bob was born August 4, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert G. and Laura (Newey) Denington. Bob was the first in his family to attend and finish college. He graduated from Case Institute of Technology with an undergraduate degree in Civil engineering and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at NASA and Analex for 30 years.
Bob married Harriet (Tweed) Denington in 1953 and were married for 46 years. They raised four children on a farm in Columbia Station. Bob was actively involved in the community, serving on the Columbia School Board and the Columbia Zoning Board for many years.
After Harriet’s death, Bob remarried and continued worldwide travel with Mary Ellen Davis for the next 19 years of their lives together. Into his seventies, Bob remained active in skiing, white water rafting, biking, and exploring the great outdoors.
Ultimately, he visited 53 countries, all 50 states and most of the Providences in Canada. His worldwide travel and adventurous lifestyle inspired his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom affectionately call him Boppa, to travel the world and live adventurous lives.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Mary Ellen Davis. Children Laura Hagen, Robert A. (Michelle) Denington and Bruce Denington. Grandchildren Zak (Marilyn) Tarry, Nic (Megan) Denington, Melanie (Mark) Kincaid, Jeff (Elisa) Hagen,
Jeremy (Mark) Denington and Brad and Kevin Denington. Great grandchildren Elijah, Calan and Nisien Tarry, Emmalyn and Patrick Denington, Mars Kincaid, Hank and Willie Hagen and Daniel Denington. His sisters Gayle (Howie) Andersen and Joyce (Tom) Lucas. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet, daughter Lyn and brother Donald.
Following Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
