Robert H. Jenne

Robert H. Jenne, 85, of Medina, Ohio was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Bob was born May 21, 1940 in Lodi, Ohio to the late Harold and Bernice (Wuebker) Jenne. Bob was a Buckeye High School graduate and also received bachelor degree from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio. He was a retired history teacher of 31 years and retired football/track coach for over 50 years. Bob dearly enjoyed coaching and stayed in touch with many of his students.

Bob was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Valley City. He was a very talented woodcrafter making beautiful baptismal chest for all infant baptisms and he was the master woodworker making of hundreds of wood crosses that he gave to attendees at the Passion Walk held yearly at Zion’s. Bob the “go to guy” or “Mr. Fix” especially dealing with wood.  Out of love he has made many furniture pieces for his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren, and numerous wooden toy trucks, fire engines and many others he has given to friends that will be treasured.

His handmade wooden crosses were given to many, including gifts from the ELCA Northeastern Ohio Synod to church partners at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa.

Bob took pride in maintaining his yard, trimming his apple trees, feeding the birds and gardening. Bob will be greatly missed by all those who had the honor of his friendship.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (nee Gunkelman) married 68 years, sons, Michael, Kevin (Dixie) and Paul (Anne); grandchildren, Adam (Lauren), Sarah, Zachary, Amelia and Orry (Kate); great grandchildren, Lany, Charli, Memphis and Oliver; his precious four -legged buddy “Kitty”. He is also survived by a brother Terry (Beth).

Preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Clark and Barbara Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church gathering area and from 11:00-Noon on Saturday with the Funeral at Noon in the church.  Burial to follow in Zion Church Cemetery.

The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City has the honor of serving the Jenne family.

 In lieu of flowers- memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
