Robert John Elder

Robert John Elder, 87, of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 30, 2025.

Robert was born October 29, 1938 in Mallet Creek, Ohio to the late Chester and Ruth (Pritchard) Elder. He resided in Medina County for the majority of his life and couple years he made his residence in South Dakota a state he dearly loved.

Bob had attended Litchfield Assembly of God, and he served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959. Robert worked as a service technician with Columbia Gas serving Medina County for 38 years.

Bob was talented in wood working, making many pieces of furniture and had a special interest in refurbishing old traffic lights.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Beverly (Cavalet), married 65 ½ years;

His daughter Melanie (JD) Bly and his son, Randy (Brandy) Elder and five grandchildren, Gabryelle, Micay, Cayleb, Domynic and Jordyn; and his brother Jim Elder and nephews- James and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Elder.

Following Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City, has the honor of serving the Elder family.
