Richard Lawless, 82, of Lodi, (Chatham Township), passed away August 25, 2020.
He was born October 23, 1937 in Fostoria, OH to late Samuel J. and Lucille (nee Herbert) Lawless. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda, daughter Lynn Smith, son Richard J. Lawless, grandchildren Alexis and Adam Smith and his twin brother Robert Lawless. Preceded in death by his sister, Donna Mandorff.
Richard served in the Air Force National Guard from 1956 to 1962. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1959.
Richard worked in the credit Department of many large equipment manufacturers, including Towmotor, Caterpillar, and as Credit Manager for Lorain Cranes, a division of Koehring, and White Motor Financial Services. He also was a realtor for Realty One, and taught computer classes in the Adult Education Department at Medina’s Joint Vocational school. He then sold greenhouses and supplies for CropKing. He has been retired for many years.
He played trombone for over 70 years. He played in the praise and worship teams of churches he attended, the last being the Litchfield Assembly of God. He also was a member of the Litchfield Town Band and Leo’s Jolly Jammers.
Richard thanks his wife Brenda for enabling him to scuba dive and horseback riding (including Barrel racing). They enjoyed many hours of trail riding, and to go to heaven. Brenda got him born again!
At Richard’s request, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at Litchfield Assembly of God Church on September 9, 2020.
Burial will be held at York Township Cemetery.
