Raymond Lawrence Kemp

Raymond Lawrence Kemp, 86, of Valley City, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Ray was born August 8, 1937 in Medina, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Elsie (Drogell) Kemp. He has lived in the part of Medina County called Abbeyville all his life. Ray was a longtime member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City, where he was actively involved with church dinners, served as an usher and taught CCD religion classes. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Valley City Chamber of Commerce, Buckeye Athletic Boosters, Medina County Farm Council and spent countless hours volunteering at the Buckeye High School Softball field serving as pitching coach for numerous years. Ray greatly enjoyed softball, he played ball at the former Abbeyville Ballfield and shared the love of the sport for years.

Ray had been employed at Mack Industries for 58 years.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Jean (Weigel) married 65 years. children, Steve (Deb) Kemp, Alisa (Jim) Sandor and Beth (Clint) Davis; grandchildren, Ryan (Dreama) Kemp, Steven (Anna) Kemp, Nancy (Josh) Pawlak, McKenna (Austin) Mathis, Elsie (Josh) Gauthier, Faith (Keith) Oswald, Leo (Annikki) Kemp, Rebekah Kemp, Darby Sandor (fiancé Jake Phlieger). Keaton (Melissa) Sandor, James (Denell) Conrad, Luke (Hailie) Conrad and Mark Conrad and 17 great grandchildren. He was a brother to Doris Mueller (deceased), and survived by brother-in-law, George Mueller and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH,

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road Valley City. (Family and friends please meet at the church).

Burial to follow at St. Martin Church Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, Ohio 44256.
