Norma Lea (Cooper) Rankin

Norma Lea Rankin, age 83, of Valley City entered into her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Norma was born in Kincaid, W. Va on September 26, 1937 to the late Summers and Elsie (Wriston) Cooper. She had resided in Cleveland prior to moving to Liverpool Township in 1971.

Norma was a woman of faith and an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Valley City, OH where she was involved in the St. Paul Choir and LWML.  She was a true homemaker who enjoyed cooking and adored her family.

Norma had worked as the Activities Director at Life Care Center of Medina for 23 years and was a hostess at Ashley’s Tea Room, Medina for several years.

She will be greatly missed by her children, William (Tereasa) Rankin, Jr., Trenna (Jim) Tighe and Jeannie Burgess. Grandchildren, Kristen Nemes, Vanessa (Chris) Finan, Willy Rankin, Jim (Becca) Tighe, Tim (Maria) Tighe and Jeff (Bailey) Burgess. Great Grandchildren, Haleigh, DJ, Austin, Emma, Andrew, Nicholas, Lydia, Spencer, Grace, Colin, Miriam and Eliza. Sister, Peggy Mason. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband William, Sr., the love of her life, passed away in 1998. son-in-law- Timothy Burgess, a great grandchild Emet Burgess, step brothers- Roy and Donald, brothers Orville, Summer, Jr. and a sisters- Janet.and Elena.

Funeral Service- 11:00 AM, Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road Valley City, OH Rev. Philip Zielinski, officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at church.  Burial- St. Paul Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County/An Affiliate of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
