Mary M. Eisler Waszil Arick, 99, of Valley City, passed into her heavenly home on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Mary was born October 10, 1924 in Euclid, Ohio to the late Lewis F. and Sadie (nee Oroschin) Eisler. She has resided in Valley City since the early 1950’s. Mary worked along side her first husband Bill Waszil and her brother Joe Eisler at their gas station in downtown Valley City for many years. In later years, Mary retired as a school bus driver for Buckeye Local Schools. She was an active member of St. Martin of Tours Church, noting “If I only had a nickel for every potato I peeled for the church dinners, I would be a millionaire.”
She is survived by her sister Vivian (Bill) Gombert, nieces and nephews:
Bill Gombert, Karen Hines, Lance Eisler, Terry Eisler, Sandra Bowers, Charles and Christopher Eisler; Timothy Eisler, Gregory Eisler, Laurie Eisler, Linda Csepi, Robert Eisler, Lisa Kirkland and Sarah Taylor; Step daughters; Donna Arick and JoAnn (Mike) Carpenter, grandchildren ; Allison, Rachel and Michael Carpenter and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Waszil and Clifton “Kip” Arick, son, Billy Waszil, brothers, Charles and Joe Eisler, niece Susan Caldwell and nephew Fred Eisler.
A special “Thank you” to her faithful and supportive friends Mary Ann Keefer, Jackie Gluck and Doug Borling.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Plum Creek Assisted Living and the Valley City Fire and Rescue for all their care and service given to Mary through these past few years. We also would like to thank the Transitions Hospice team for their support.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in the Gathering Area of St. Martin of Tours 1800 Station Road
Valley City with the Funeral Mass immediately following at 11:00 AM
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Martin of Tours Church Building Fund.
