Mary E. (Stalnaker) Samples

Mary E. Samples, 84, of Litchfield, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 19, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born April 7, 1936 in Tague, W. VA.  to the late Bill and Maysel (nee Mitchell) Stalnaker.  She moved to Grafton, Ohio in the early 1950’s and later to Litchfield in 1956.

Mary had been a member of Litchfield Eastern Star and Lyndon Chapter 361 for many years.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and watching the birds out her windows.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Sue Marco, Leah (Larry) Hershey and Mancel (Dee Layne) Samples. Grandchildren, Melody Marco (Philip Richards), Marybeth Marco, Katie (Brian) DeSimone, Kevin Hershey (Kelly Speidel) and Carolyn (Dennis) Copeland.  Great grandchildren, Taylor Schweitzer, Jenna & Justin DeSimone, Maddie Mae and Randy Copeland and Owen Hershey. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Stalnaker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Junior “Red” Samples in 1985, brothers, Argil, James (Johnnie) and Neil Stalnaker, Sisters, Judy (Bill) Hyer and Johanna Heater.

Private Family Services will be held Friday at the Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City. Graveside service will be at Litchfield Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials if desired, may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
