Mary Evelyn (Daugherty) Muntz

Mary Evelyn Muntz, lovingly known as "Gammie," passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Brunswick, Ohio, at the age of 87. Born on March 30, 1938, in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Robert Raymond and Irene Alzania (Cantwell) Daugherty, Mary lived a life dedicated to caring for others and serving her family, embodying the spirit of service exemplified by God.

Mary is survived by her sister Naomi Elmerick; children Bryan (Diana) Muntz, Bruce Muntz and Beverly Trenerry; and her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Nichole (Russell Ortman Jr.), Jennifer Hoff, Tiffany (Chris Presley), Stephanie (Chris Hunt), Stacey (Brian Fitzgerald), Micheal Muntz, Shannon Grief, Brittany Frazier, Keegan Trenerry, Keesha Bush-Trenerry, her 14 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Charles Muntz, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began on October 5, 1957. Together, they raised four wonderful children. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Ann Muntz; her sister, Joan Lee Young and her brother Robert Daugherty.

Mary was a cherished member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Valley City, Ohio where she found joy in community and faith. She loved teaching Sunday school and leading Girl Scouts. She also treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories and sharing her love and wisdom with them. She found joy in working puzzles, playing canasta and nurturing those around her with unwavering care and compassion.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM–3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the gathering area of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2233 Abbeyville Rd, Valley City, OH 44280.

The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church followed by burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Jim Watson will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Choir or to your local food bank. Your generosity in honoring Mary's memory in this way is greatly appreciated.
