Marjorie E. (Kutz) Naftzger

Marjorie E. Naftzger, 101, of Valley City, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 with her family at her side.

Marge was born in Flat Rock, Ohio on March 11, 1924 to the late Guy and Mabel (Purbis) Kutz.  She has resided in Valley City since 1954 and moved to Brookdale South in 2022.  She had been a waitress for over 25 years, retired from the former D’Amico restaurant in Medina.

 Marge was an active member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Valley City and waitressed at the church fish fries for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Valley City VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  Marge enjoyed sewing, gardening and was noted as an excellent baker. Marge was involved in the Valley City Frog Jump because her late husband was one of the founders of the event.

She will be greatly missed by her children, David (Jackie) Naftzger, Dennis Naftzger and Doug (late Carol) Naftzger. Grandchildren, Timothy (Rachel) Naftzger, Daniel (Erin) Naftzger, Erin (Christian) Becerra and Lindsay (Eric) Shearer. Great grandchildren, Sarah, Anna and Brian Naftzger, Steven Naftzger

Jacob (Kelcie) Jermac, Mira, Rowan and Quinton Shearer and Great Great grandchildren, Alfred and Lorenzo Jermac.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Duane Naftzger in 2000 and also her siblings Ruth, Raymond and Harold.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation 10:00 am-11:00 am on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ 6656 Center Road Valley City, OH with the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at York Township Cemetery, Mallet Creek, OH.

Marge’s family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the Brookdale South staff and to “The Blue Team” for their special loving care given to their mom and grandma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Emmanuel Church of Christ or to Hospice of Western Reserve, Medina.
