Marilynn Rauhaus Obituary

Marilynn Ruth Rauhaus, 85, of Liverpool Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

She was born August 11, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Oscar and Florence (Briska) Reinking.  Living the majority of her life in Valley City, she was a member of Buckeye High School’s first graduating class in 1958.  Marilynn had resided in Columbia Station prior to moving to Valley City in 1973.

Marilynn was a teacher for almost thirty years, teaching at both Bethany Lutheran School in Parma and the majority of her time as a 2nd grade teacher at Litchfield Elementary School in Buckeye.

Marilynn loved the Lord and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Valley City, where she met her husband, Herbert W. Rauhaus.  She served as superintendent and teacher for Sunday School, musical director for Sunday School, and director and teacher for Vacation Bible School.  Marilynn also enjoyed visiting shut-ins, participating in St. Paul’s card ministry, and was involved in the youth group activities while her children were growing up.

Finally, she was instrumental in creation and implementation of “wiggle bags”, that the young children of St. Paul’s congregation still enjoy today.

Marilynn is survived by twin daughters, Gretchen (Mike) Apple and Heidi (Steven) Ohrt and a son Henry (Mary Beth) Rauhaus, grandchildren, Alex, Rachel, Sara, Sophia, and Vivian.  She is also survived by her twin brother Ron (Judy) Reinking, sisters Elaine Albrecht and Susan (Ron) Broadsword, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Reinking, her sister Linda Petchler and her husband Herb Rauhaus,

Visitation, funeral service and burial will be held Friday, March 27, 2026,at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road Valley City, beginning with visitation from 10:00 am, service at 12:00 pm, and concluding with the burial, and a celebration of life reception for all family ad friends at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Paul’s,
