Margaret “Peggy” Watson-Tampson, PHD
Born October 28, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. Dearest Daughter of Ed and Elsa (Ryll) Tampson. Peggy passed away peacefully at her Medina Home on December 24, 2021.
Peggy moved to North Royalton with her family where she attended Bethany and North Royalton Schools. E.E. Root High School is where she first met her husband James Watson. Life came along for both of them and Peggy reconnected with Jim at their 30th high school reunion and married the next year July 25, 2001.
Peggy’s life was exciting, creative, religious and educational. Peggy achieved three Master degrees and a PHD.
Peggy got involved in every community she lived in and even some she didn’t. Peggy created and started the Institute for Eating Disorders when she lived in Detroit, created and started Workers Wellness Program for Franklin International when she lived in Columbus. Peggy did police and fire ride along in Michigan and Ohio, worked third shift with ship welders and nurses so she could better understand their jobs first hand in order to help change work cultures. Peg always said “How can I help change work culture with only book knowledge and no firsthand experience?”
Peggy’s involvement also included her church life. From “Angel Alice” children’s sermons to doing the church service whenever asked, serving on the worship and music committee and church council. Peg even wrangled a group from Living Word to go to West Virginia to work on three houses for Habitat for Humanity. We all were invited to attend a house blessing for a family whose home was just completed.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband Jim Watson, her children Jamela Debelak (James Scythes), Brandon Watson, her step children Miranda (Allen) Taylor and Taylor Watson, grandchildren Emmylou Scythes, Caydince Taylor, Celina and Cameron Berry. Sisters, Susie (Michael) Novak, Holly (Ed) Stiles and Tamara (Rick) Toburen. Brother and sister-in-law John (Mary Ann) Watson and Jeree (Chuck) Ellison. Aunt Lois Tampson and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Peg’s name sake -Aunt Marge, Uncle Felix (Lois) Tampson and daughter- Brittany.
