Margaret (Peggy) Smith
On December 8, 2025, Margaret (Peggy) Smith (nee Boehnen), known by her family as Peachy, passed away at the age of 82 at her home surrounded by loving family. A graduate of Magnificat High School, she lived most of her life in Medina County. Peggy devoted her life to caring for others, be it her immediate and extended family, hundreds of rescue animals over the years, close friends or sundry strangers.
Peggy was the daughter of Jean and Boyd Boehnen and was the second eldest, and oldest daughter, of eleven children. She was preceded into the hereafter by her parents, and brothers Bill and Dan, and sister Patty. She is survived by her remaining siblings Angela (Mark), Michael (Simala), John, Jeananne, Thomas, Mary Ellen (George), and Diane (Jimmy). She is also survived by her husband Glenn Smith, daughters, Suzanne (Michael), Lisa (Bob), Nancy (Jeff), Sandy and Lynn (Paul), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
After the passing of her mother, Peachy took on the role on matriarch tending to her sibling’s needs. Family gatherings were at Peachy’s place and were of epic proportion. Her animal family included cats, blind or not, dogs, hers or not, turkeys and other fowl, and other miscellaneous varmints too diverse to accurately relate.
How does one summarize a life well lived? Those who knew Peggy understand. Those who experienced her clever wit and unexpectedly dry sense of humor know. Those who were touched by her generosity are forever grateful. Those who felt her love will long remember.
