Loretta F. Walter, 79, of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Loretta was born April 4, 1945 in Burbank, Ohio to the late William and Edna (Lawrence) Swartz. She had resided in Medina County 1966 until 2006 when she and her husband moved to warmer climate in Arizona for 16 years, returning back to Medina in 2022. While in Maricopa, Arizona, she played organ for Our Lady of Grace Parish. She also enjoyed making her famous cheesecakes for the fish fries at the church.
Loretta was an active member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City where she was devoted organist/choir director for over 30 years and she served as the wedding coordinator at St. Martin as well. She was well known for baking and beautifully decorating many wedding cakes and cakes for other occasions.
Loretta drove bus for Buckeye Local Schools, Medina for over 20 years.
Loretta was actively involved and supported all her children’s activities as they grew up. She truly cherished her grandchildren.
Loretta will be greatly missed by her husband, S. Charles, married 61 years, children, Stefanie Walter, Sara (Michael) Floreth, Rachel (Michael) Lewis, and Elsie Gordon (Brian Walter deceased). Grandchildren, Richard Walter, Emily, Michaela, Aric (Bethany), Patrick (Anna) Ubienski, Charlie, Mikey, Pete and Clare Floreth, Taylor Lewis, Kaylee and Mason Roberson. Survived by sister, Mary Christopher and a brother Bill Swartz (Brenda).
Preceded in death by siblings, Richey Swartz, Carrie Keltz and Elaine Brown.
Calling hours will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Ohio.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at St. Martin Of Tours Chapel, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, OH. Burial to follow at St. Martin Cemetery.
