Lenore Anne “Sue” Hartman, passed away at University Hospitals Cleveland on Monday, February 24, 2020.
Born to Emma (nee Beck) and Howard A. Hartman, DDS in Cleveland, Ohio. Lenore graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in AG Science, and later with a MS in Agricultural Economics. She became known as “Sue” early in life, as the result of a nickname given by her father.
As a high school student, Sue was a 4-H Exchange Student, living with a family in Brazil. All her life, Sue was involved with animals: sheep, horses and dogs while growing up in North Olmsted. At OSU, Sue was the first woman member of the OSU Livestock Judging Team.
Graduating from Kansas State University with a MS degree in Physical Therapy, Sue embarked on a remarkable new career, putting down roots in Kansas City, Missouri where she purchased her first home.
Sue returned to North Olmsted in the 1980’s to care for her parents, working in PT at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights until she retired. She purchased the house of her dreams in Valley City, Ohio where she has lived ever since.
A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Medina, Ohio, Sue was active in the Episcopal Church Women. In retirement, Sue pursed her passions for horses (with her dream horse “Star”, who she could ride and drive) and for dogs (the Pembroke Corgis she showed and bred.) Sue regularly entered exhibits in the Medina County Fair.
