Lawson JR Childers

Lawson Junior (JR) Childers, 94, of Litchfield, Ohio passed away peacefully the morning of October 11, 2024. He was born in Wyndal, West Virginia on May 26, 1930.

He retired from Ford Motor Company in Brook Park, Ohio where he had 30 years of service. In retirement, he returned to West Virginia where he enjoyed outdoor activities of gardening, hunting, and being in the woods. He wanted to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren, so with the love of his life he moved back to Ohio in 1990. His family was fortunate enough to have them move in right next door. You could always see his smiling face at Litchfield Flea Market riding his golf cart and in Medina socializing with everyone he would meet. When he was not doing those things, he enjoyed spending time in his pole building watching westerns, waving at anyone that would pass by (with his chew in) and mowing his grass. He had an endless love for children and with his friendly personality, he became known to everybody as Grandpa. Grandpa was loved by so many.

Junior is survived by this wife of 73 years, Evelyn Childers, his daughter Karen Schutte, his grandchildren Jason Lamb (Kathy), Jennifer Schutte, Jeremy Schutte and his great grandchildren Andrew Lamb, Ava Lamb, Nathan Lamb, and Kinsley Ramsey. He will be greatly missed but now he rests in peace.

Friends and family are invited to attend visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at The Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Rd, Valley City, Ohio, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 17, 2024. Burial to follow at Litchfield Cemetery on Route 18.
