Larry G. Shook

Larry Gilbert Shook went to his heavenly home on April 11, 2022 at the age of 81.  He was born July 28, 1940 in Independence, Kansas, the son of Cecil and Dorothy (Johnson) Shook.

Graduating from Independence High School, he played on their championship football team.  Later owning Shook’s Plumbing, he focused on new construction of homes in both Lorain and Medina counties.  Larry was a dedicated member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving as an elder, youth bible teacher along with other activities.  When his children were young, he enjoyed coaching their teams.  As they entered the teenage years, he would never miss cheering for them at their many games.

His loving wife of 60 years, Marlene, survives.  Left to honor and miss him are three children and their spouses: Tony and Janice Shook, Greg and Jan Shook, and Deborah and Mark Harrill.  Larry leaves  beloved grandchildren: Joshua Shook, Samantha (Matthew) Trnian, Nicole (Nathan) Sadow, Daniel (Margherita) Shook, Jessica Shook, Abigal Harrill, Jacob Shook and Nathaniel Harrill.   He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Trea, Paige, and Rhett Trnian and Hayden, Kinsley, Millie, and Jett Sadow.  He is also survived by his dear brother Leon (Joan deceased) and dearest sister Alice Jane (Carl deceased).

Visitaton will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Valley City.  Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with burial and luncheon immediately afterward.
