Kenneth Spengler Obituary

Kenneth Paul Spengler, 58, of Valley City, succumbed to cancer on April 22, 2022, after a long and stubbornly-fought battle.

Kenny was born in Parma, Ohio on October 28, 1963, to the late Pauline and Karl Spengler.  He graduated from Parma High school in 1982, and then started his 40-year career in the printing industry.

He was not only quick-witted and extremely good-looking (as he liked to point out), he was a man of many talents and interests.  He could recite movie lines at the drop of a hat *  was an encyclopedia of useful, useless and weird information *  had a flashlight for every occasion  *  loved things that flew, both birds and planes *  caught frogs for the annual Valley City Frog Jump  * supervised many 4th of July fireworks extravaganzas *   made lasting memories with friends on Outer Banks vacations  *  enjoyed camping in the Allegheny National Forest and, because of that, named our first dog Kinzua  *   served as the family’s personal meteorologist and storm tracker  *   was a dedicated softball dad to his daughter, and shared his love of classic cars and fishing with his son   *  was the source of much aggravation to his sisters growing up  but, as the “baby”, always got away with it  *   was a lifelong player of sports, with Sunday morning softball morphing into Sunday morning golf with his brother and childhood friends  *   was an expert on anything and everything.  But most of all, he was just plain fun to talk to.  Here’s hoping one or more of these triggers memories that make you smile.

Kenny will be deeply missed by his wife and partner of 37 years Carolyn, his children Mary and Christian, his siblings Mike (Cathy), Karl (Teena), Mary (Joe) and Barbara, his loyal pup Tucker, and numerous nieces/nephews/cousins/friends.

The family invites you to share memories and celebrate his life on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City, OH 44280. Cremation has taken place as Kenny wished.
