Kathy Jean (Rector) Jones

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Kathy Jean Jones

passed away February 22, 2025. She was born June 21, 1953, in Newark, Ohio to the late Larry and Irene (nee Deal) Rector.

Her first cruise, in the early ‘80s, with her late husband Rodger sparked her love of traveling.  Her adventures took her to many beautiful places, such as Alaska, Caribbean, Costa Rica, Greenland, Iceland, Italy, the Panama Canal and many more.  She shared this love of travel with her family, which created great memories that they will cherish forever.

Kathy enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop at Medina Hospital.  In 2003, she founded the local ladies Patriotic Angels group that met monthly for 21 years. She was a member of multiple bowling leagues through out the years. She enjoyed going to the casino with her dear friend Janet, who was more like a sister.

Preceded in death by her husband, of 43 years, Rodger Jones, and a granddaughter Casey.

Survived by her children, Denise McIver, Stephanie (Kent) Seward, David (Amber) Garrett III, nine grandchildren: Breeana (Kevin), Courtney, Chelsea, Katlyn, Cameron, Nathan, Tyler, Macy and Alexis , and one great grandchild Hunter.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at LifeSpring Community Church,

1638 Lester Road Valley City, OH. Pastor John Baker, officiating.

Interment to following at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Valley City.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation in Kathy’s name to Birth Care of Medina County or LifeSpring Community Church.
