Karen Matson Obituary

KAREN A. MATSON, age 83, passed away on November 22, 2025.

Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.

Proud mother of Dennis (Lori) and Dwayne (Michelle). Cherished grandmother of Adam (Cassie), Alicia, Nikkole (Jason Deala), Dwayne Jr., Allison, Cassandre (Zachary Jones), and Dennis Jr. Loving great-grandmother to many.

Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Her life was devoted to her family. She and Ernest met in high school as sweethearts and shared a beautiful bond that lasted more than five decades. Together they raised two sons and found tremendous joy in their growing family.

In retirement, Karen and Ernest traveled extensively, enjoying vacations and treasured time with their grandchildren. Karen was also a dedicated volunteer at Life’s Treasures Hospice in Medina and served as a Eucharistic Minister, giving her time and compassion to others.

Her legacy is the life she lived—teaching us all to be good parents, to work hard, and to always put family first.

A special thank-you to Lori, who provided loving and comforting care to Mom.

Family and friends are invited to Karen's Funeral Mass, 11:00 am. Tuesday, December 2, 2025  at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, Ohio and there will be a gathering at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
