Joyce May (Haring) Haury

Joyce May Haury, 82, Grafton, Ohio called to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her side.

Joyce was born October 13, 1941 in Medina, Ohio to the late Elmer and Lucille (Stackhouse) Haring. She lived in Medina County for many years moving to Grafton in 1979. She was a 1959 graduate of Buckeye High School.  Joyce was a lifelong faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Valley City, where she served as a financial assistant for many years.

Joyce was married to the love of her life, Gil for 63 years. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She spent her time as a homemaker enjoying baking, cooking and watching her grandbabies.  Joyce enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and would freeze and can vegetables for the winter months. She was happiest when her family was near and took care of several family members over the years.

As quoted, “she was the glue that held the family farm together”. She had a contagious laugh and was always willing to give of herself.  She will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Survived by her beloved husband Gilbert, married 63 years, loving children, Cheryl (Brian) Dearth, Brent Haury, Cindy (Curt) Hawke and Brad (Tracy) Haury, Cherished grandchildren, Cassie (Kyle) Bremke, Kara Dearth, Breanna (Chad) Acker, Benjamin (Emily) Haury, Evan Hawke, Owen Hawke, Austin Haury and Ashlyn Haury.  6 great grandchildren and a dear sister Naomi Taylor. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her siblings Russell Haring, Katherine Tibbitts, Betty Fratz, Beatrice Haury, William Haring and Marlene Jirousek.            

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 9:30- 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road, Valley City, OH with the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Paul's Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society.
