John Coghlan Obituary

John A. Coghlan, 81, of Valley City, Ohio passed onto his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

John was born August 3, 1942 in San Francisco, Calif. to the late Alvin and Lorna (Dietrich) Coghlan.  He had resided in Lorain County for many years prior to moving to Valley City in 1991. He had been an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop #175 North Ridgeville for many years.

John was a very active member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City volunteering where ever needed, especially at the church dinners, food pantry and funeral luncheons.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

John had worked as Body Shop manager for 46 years.  He was a car enthusiast working on all cars and enjoyed participating in car shows.

He was a member of the Valley City Garden Club and enjoyed working in his yard and garden.

John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon, married 57 years and his son Greg,

and his beloved kitty and companion, Socks. Brother and sister, James Coghlan and Judith Thatcher.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry Coghlan, Joan Coghlan, Jeannie Sweiger and an infant sister.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Ohio

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at St. Martin of Tours 1800 Station Road Valley City, there is an hour visitation prior the Mass in the Gathering Area. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers- Memorials may be made to St. Martin Building Fund.
