Joan Sabanos, 82, of Kailua, passed away on January 21, 2024. Born in Ohio. Hawaii resident for the last 50 years, she is survived by her daughters, Jill and Jacqueline, grandchildren Rhys and Kellan Staninger, sister Carol White, and brothers Charles and Tom Yako.
Joan dedicated herself to public service and colleagues remember her as a compassionate individual who worked tirelessly for the betterment of others.
An avid tennis player, Joan found joy and camaraderie on the court. Her passion for the sport embodied her competitive spirit and brought people together, fostering lasting connections and memories.
Joan immersed herself in the vibrant Hawaii community and her love for the islands was matched only by her compassion for animals. Her home was a haven for our furry companions, and her kindness towards them reflected her caring nature for all living beings.
May she rest in eternal peace, her legacy of love and kindness enduring in the hearts of the many she touched.
