Joan M. Perkins, 81, of Litchfield, passed away on October 6, 2022, after a brief illness with cancer. She was born on October 12, 1940, in Cleveland to William and Dorothea (Hahn) Edinger. She was the second of five daughters.
After graduating from St. John College in Cleveland with a bachelor of science in nursing, Joan served as an officer in the United States Navy, where she met her husband, from 1961-1965. Joan loved to read and enjoyed puzzles and crocheting.
She is survived by a legacy of love including her children Michele (Rick) Docken, Mike, Deacon William (Michelle), Terri (Alan) Pratt, Karen, Tim, Matt (Kathryn) and Tom (Deana); grandchildren Nathan (Kelsey) Docken, Tyler (Savannah), Derek (Julia), Ryan (Genevieve), Amanda (Jacob) McCormick, Kristen, Zach Pratt, Alex Pratt, Evan Pratt, Isaac Pratt, Ava, Carson, Tristen Johnson, Alexis and McKenzie; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Judy Edinger, Marilyn Spradling, Martha (Andrew) Capodiferro; brothers-in-law Benny Badalamenti and Mike (Linda) Toth; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband F.H. (Mike) Perkins in 1994, son Eddie, sister Monica Toth, sister-in-law Shirley Badalamenti, and daughter-in-law Becky Perkins.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. and Monday, October 10, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. in the Gathering area of St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel of St. Martin of Tours on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with the interment following in the church cemetery.
