Janet M. (Kinder) Knight

Janet Knight (Kinder), 69, of Medina passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, after a period of declining health.  Born in Buckhannon, WV, December 17, 1951, the daughter of Belvia Hann (Kinder) & Roy Kinder Jr., she has been a Medina resident for the past 69 years. 

On January 3, 1970, Janet married the love of her life, Thomas Knight Jr., to whom she was married to for over 51 years.  She was a graduate of Medina High School and after a brief stint at beauty school, she worked at a few places before settling in as activities director at the Medina County Home, where she worked for over 10 years.  She loved working there and planning activities for the residents. 

Janet became a member of Waltz United Methodist Church and was involved in Ladies Aid and cherished all of her church friends.    

She is survived by her husband, Tom Knight Jr, her mother Belvia Hann of Medina, her daughters Crystal (Kevin) Haug of Medina, Angie (Pete) Kolomichuk of Medina, her grandsons Peter Kolomichuk IV of Brunswick and Austin Kolomichuk of Medina, father-in-law Tom Knight Sr. of Wooster, Ohio, mother-in-law Marge Lons of Lodi, Ohio. and many close relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father Roy Kinder Jr., of Medina, and step-father George Hann of Dalton, Ohio.   

Janet loved her family so much, and was always the life of the party.  She also loved going to the fair.  Everyone always knew where to find her, parked on a bench near the old Leroy’s sausage stand, every single day of the fair.  Her outgoing personality and goofy sense of humor will be missed by everyone. 

While Janet requested to be cremated, there will be visiting hours for family & friends on Tuesday, June 1 from 6-8 pm at Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City.  There will also be a visitation from 10-12:00 am on Wednesday, June 2 at Waltz United Methodist Church, followed by a service at 12:00 pm.  Pastor Les Buttolph will be officiating.  There will be a private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery at a later date. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Cleveland Clinic, the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care, the staff at The Sanctuary and all of the support we have received from family and friends.
