Janelle Marie Calame

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Janelle Marie Calame on Friday, November 6, 2020. Leaving us at the age of 48, Janelle still lived a complete and joyful life.

 Janelle was born to Howard Sr. and Janice (Gunkelman) Calame at Medina General Hospital on November 26, 1971. She was a 1990 graduate of Buckeye High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1998.

 Janelle is survived by her parents, Howard and Janice; siblings Janeen Calame, Howard Jr. (Tara) Calame and James (Audrey) Calame; nieces and nephew, Kaley (Rob) Dellinger, Margaret (Travis) Auth, Alaina Calame, and Zachary Calame; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

 She was preceded in death by: her brother Jeffrey Calame; grandparents Raymond and Dorothy (Morlock) Gunkelman and Charles and Zelda (Johnson) Calame.

 Janelle worked over 20 years in the banking industry, most recently employed by Key Bank Corporation as a Level 2 Service Officer in Agency Services. She is a life member of Zion Lutheran Church, in Valley City. At Zion, she served as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and Luther League Advisor.

  Her many hobbies and interests included scrapbooking, family genealogy, coordinating and cooking for family gatherings, attending the activities and sporting events of friends and family members, decorating MANY Christmas trees at church and at home. Most of all, Janelle’s greatest enjoyment was hosting her annual “Cousin Love” reunions.

 A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. A celebration of Life Open House  will be held  Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church Gathering Area, 2233 Abbeyville Road, Valley City.

Please join Janelle's family in a casual gathering of family and friends sharing in the love and joy that Janelle brought to our lives.  Feel free to come and go as you are able. Light refreshment will be available,
