James Gerard Wessa

James Gerard Wessa, 70, of Medina, Ohio passed onto his heavenly home on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Jim was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 4, 1955 to the late Wallace and Mary Ann (Volz) Wessa.  He was raised in Wisconsin and moved to Cleveland for work in 1987 then to Medina County in 1994.   Jim was a member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City and he also faithfully attended morning masses at St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina where he had maintained the church candles for the past 15 years. Jim worked in the technical sales in Optometry for many years.

Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing pool, but mostly he was gifted in numerous talents as “Mr. Fix It”.

Jim’s life was a testament to his faith, where God, family and neighbors were his priorities.  His love, humor, and generosity made a difference in this world.  As he gave completely of himself. May we remember to pray for his intercession in heaven.  Sue and Jim’s Wedding Theme that they lived by was: We shall walk the path of life secure in our love guided by the Lord.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Susan (Saniuk), married 47 years; children Renee (Brian) Mungo, Kevin (Christine) Wessa and Sarah Dougherty,

Grandchildren, Stella, Sophia, Dominic, James, John, Ava, Cecilia, Agnes and Lucy. His siblings, Michael (June) Wessa, Patricia Williams, Robert (Janice) Wessa and Kathleen (Lawrence) French, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister, Marie Wessa.

Funeral Mass will be held, 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, OH where family will receive friends and family from 9:00- 11:00 am in the Gathering Area, prior to the Mass. Burial to follow at St. Martin Church Cemetey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Bread, an organization that Jim’s parents were the founders.
