Jack C. Kovacs

Jack C. Kovacs, 85, Valley City, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday, December 15, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Jack was a Valley City resident for 50 years.  Jack received his master’s degree in mathematics and his doctorate in physics—both from the University of Akron.  During part of his schooling, he worked as an orderly at Fallsview Psychiatric Hospital where he met the love of his life, Pat, who was working as a registered nurse.

Jack worked at Firestone in Akron after graduating from college, and then from 1969 to 1995 at NASA’s Lewis research Center in Cleveland where he was involved with the International Space Station.

Jack will be greatly missed by his daughter, Juli Kovacs, son John (Suzie Hemphill), daughter Joyce Kovacs (Trey Bohannon). Grandchildren- Alexander and Isabella Kovacs, and sister Barbara Denious.

Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Kovacs, 2017, daughter, Jean Kovacs, 2003, parents John and Helen (Clever) Kovacs and brother Lloyd Kovacs.

Following Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held in the spring at Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina, OH.

Donations in Jack’s name may be made to the Special Olympics Ohio.
