Irene K, Sopata, 66, of Medina, Ohio passed on to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Irene was born on November 26, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late James and Virginia (Watson) Vealey. She took pride in growing up in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood. Her family moved to Brunswick in 1970 and she graduated from Brunswick High School in 1975. She moved to Valley City in 1992 and then to York Township in 2018. Irene was strong and faithful to her Lutheran faith.
Irene was very involved in her children’s activities in school and loved to play and be with her grandchildren.
She was a gifted seamstress, loved to bake cakes for special occasions, enjoyed crafting and bargain hunting.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 46 years, Richard and cherished daughters, Rosie (Joshua) Ziegler, Gloria Diane Sopata (deceased) and son, David (Yvonne) Sopata. Adored grandchildren, Kayley, Joshua and Olivia. Dear sister of Claude (Celeste) Vealey.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Ohio.
Funeral Mass will 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Martin of Tours Church, 1800 Station Road Valley City, Ohio. (Please meet at the church).
Burial- St. Martin Church Cemetery.
