Howard "Jimmy" Ferrier Obituary

Howard James (Jimmy) Ferrier age 82 passed away peacefully surrounded by his four “favorite” daughters at the Avenue of Wooster on December 18, 2020.

Jimmy was born January 18, 1938, the youngest of six children to Norman and Susan (Hughmanic) Ferrier at home in Valley City and a graduate of Buckeye High School. Jimmy married the love of his life Patricia (Patty) Rae (Dieckman) on October 25, 1957. Jimmy was a resident of Medina County until 1997 and moved to Wayne County until his passing.

Jimmy owned/operated James Ferrier Roofing for over 50 years, was an avid toy collector, lived for the outdoors and farming, growing the best sweet corn enjoyed by many. Jimmy loved watching his grandchildren play sports, attending family gatherings, including those with beloved nieces and nephews. Jimmy regularly went to auctions with Patty along with many road trips together. Jimmy always helped his neighbors and was a volunteer in the Medina County Community. As Patty’s health declined, Jimmy lovingly, tirelessly advocated for her needs. Jimmy was always the quintessential coolest with Ray Bans and Blues Brothers heart, his family’s best friend, dearly loved and deeply missed. Jimmy had many caring friends at the Avenue.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Patty of 63 years; children Leslie Ferrier Parker of Wooster, Toni Hollopeter (Evan) of Chatham, Charlie Lutz (Ryan) of Medina, Danny Fugate (Tom Johnson) Jamestown ND; sisters Patricia Kiley and Katherine Lester of Huntsville AL.

Jimmy was extremely proud of his 7 grandchildren: Jamie Perez (Matt) of Mableton GA, Michael Hollopeter (Nicole) of Kirtland OH, Sierra Hollopeter (Kyle Timko) Royal Oak MI, Erin Vaidya (Jay) of Cleveland OH, Bryan Parker of Wooster OH, Jessica Good (Ian) Mt. Vernon OH, and Jace Fugate (Stacy Walker) Zanesfield OH, and adored his 7 great-grandchildren Liam, Beckett, and Grace Hollopeter; Camden and Jackson Perez; Nora Timko and Miles Vaidya.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Susan Ferrier, brothers Norman, John and Robert Ferrier, and son Thaddeus Ferrier.
