Harold Cottrell Obituary

Harold G. Cottrell, 80 of Valley City, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Harold was born March 2, 1943 in Clay County, West Virginia to the late Howard and Delena (Dawson) Cottrell. He has been a Medina County resident for over 53 years.

Harold worked for many years as a tow motor operator at Frito Lay Company, Cleveland until he was hired by MTD, Valley City, where he retired after 37 years of service.

Harold had a great love for nature and took pride in sharing his outdoor experiences with his family and friends.  He enjoyed giving tours on his 4-wheeler through the many paths he developed throughout his woods, the most special rides being with his grandchildren. He had a treasured spot where the Rocky River flows past his backyard that he took great pride in faithfully maintaining. In his early years, Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He found great pleasure in planting and tending to his garden and especially loved to share his bounty with family and friends.  Harold could often be found sitting on his front porch enjoying the sites and sounds of downtown Valley City and greeting any visitors who stopped by.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Alice (nee Arnold) married 62 years. His loving daughters, Annette (Brad) Conley and Janelle (Chad) Healy. Adored grandchildren, Eric Conley (Jenny), Ryan Kemp (Dreama), Zachary Conley (Stacy), Lydia Healy and Alysa Healy, as well as great grandchildren, Simon Conley and Ally Conley. Dear brother of Charles Cottrell. Special family members, Sara Batton and her children Tiffany Douglas and Tyler Witbeck (deceased).

Preceded in death by a sister Hazel Chambers, stepfather Daniel Wheeler and sister-in-law Joyce Cottrell.
