Harold Bohl Obituary

Harold F. Bohl, 94, of Medina, OH passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Mach 18, 2021.

Harold was born July 11, 1926 in Parma, Ohio to the late Fred and Sarah (nee Gerling) Bohl. He has been a lifelong resident of Lafayette Township.

He had a great love of farming as a young boy and one lasting an entire lifetime. Along with his passion for farming, Harold was a gentleman who gave back to his community in many ways. Harold built many homes throughout Medina County starting out in construction with Emmons and later becoming the proud owner of Bohl Construction. His love of entertaining and cooking took him on yet another path where, he became the owner and operator of the former well known Abbeyville Country Kitchen with his late wife Betty.  Harold not only renovated and successfully managed this establishment, but created an atmosphere where patrons became lifelong friends.  Never stopping for a minute and without hesitation, the creation of Bohl’s Roasts, known to the community, family and friends allowed him to continue a legacy where he and his wife Jackie shared in the special occasions of others.  For Harold, family and friends were a priority and the gatherings most cherished.

Harold was a past chairman of the Lafayette Township Zoning Board for many years. He was a past member of Waltz Methodist Church, where he had served as chairman on the administration council. He also attended and was a member of Lafayette United Methodist Church.

Harold enjoyed country music attending many concerts and loved dancing especially with Jackie.

Anyone who knew Harold, was the proud recipient to hear “Let that be the lesson for you today”.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Jacqueline, married 23 years, children John (Sheila- deceased) Bohl, Tom (Carol) Bohl, Donald (Vicky) O’Malley, Diann (Al) Tomko, Susan O’Malley, Robert (Karen) Sobczak, Jon (June) Sobczak, Carilyn (Bruce) Barnby, Cynthia (Dan) Tompson, Contance (Dennis) Barrington and Cheryl (Rick) Shultz. He was known as "Grandpa on the farm" to numerous grand and great grandchildren and also leaves behind his fur babies Tip, Queenie and Annie.

Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bohl, stepson, Charles O’Malley, brother- Carl Bohl and sisters, Hattie Saba and Louise Drogell.
