Georgia Faith (Schultz) Kimble

Georgia Faith Kimble (Schultz) passed away peacefully June 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Georgia was born December 16, 1933 to Nelson and Bernice (Hastings) Schultz.  She lived her entire life on the family farm in Litchfield Township.  Being born during the depression was challenging for the family which also included an older sister Hope.  Georgia’s dad called her “Jake” and referred to her as his “fake son”.  She grew up farming and making maple syrup with a team of horses and had many fond memories of her childhood.

Georgia had four children, Clyde, Alan, Dean and Lynn.  She was a single mom who raised her children while working at the Medina County Gazette.  She was head of the Advertising Make-Up Department until 1979.  She enjoyed her co-workers and made lifelong friends there – especially Henry Edinger.

Georgia was first and foremost an artist.  She was a gifted wood carver and specialized in oil painting.  Her works are in many homes in Medina County and across the country.  She worked for many years creating a 1/5 scale carousel.  The animals are all hand carved and many represent animals she had throughout her lifetime.  Her nephew Steve Johnson, handcrafted the actual working carousel base to which she added the carved animals and hand painted panels.

She enjoyed making music with her grandkids and for a time had a group of family that played together as the Kimble String Band.  At Christmas each of her grandchildren received “A Day with Grandma Jake”.   Each child could choose an activity to do with Grandma sometime during the following year.   They went on river walks, made wood projects, painted pictures and made memories. 

Georgia enjoyed nature and could most often be found outside.  She was affectionately called our “Nature Encyclopedia” being able to identify numerous species of flora and fauna for all of us.  She created several hand-painted watercolor nature books.

She lost a piece of her heart when her son Alan died in 2001.  She is survived by her sister Hope Johnson, children, Clyde Kimble, Dean (Becky) Kimble, Lynn (Philip) Kemp, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kimble.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews along with many close friends and extended family.  Special love and thanks to her grandchildren Kevin Kimble and Katie Roden who saw to her needs and comfort every day for the past few years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Gathering area of Zion Lutheran Church, 2233 Abbeyville Road, Valley City and Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to charity of donor’s choice.
