Gary E. Mennell, 65 of Spencer, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2021.
Gary was born in Lodi, Ohio on November 8, 1955 to the late Willard and Ruth (Terbeek) Mennell. He has been a lifelong resident of Medina County. Gary was a 1974 graduate of Cloverleaf High School where he had been a member of the FFA and also active in 4-H. He was a dedicated dairy and crop farmer giving his all to producing organic crops. Gary was passionate about agricultural education and his faith which led him to become founder of the Risley Agricultural Education Center over 20 years ago.
Gary was a member of the Medina County Farm Bureau; former Chatham Township Zoning Board and he had served on the Landmark Board of Directors.
He volunteered with the Operation Homes and providing to the area food pantries. Gary was a dedicated Christian servant, having touched the lives of many through support and sharing of God’s word. Gary’s faith community spanned many local churches, and he was an active member of the Black River Brethren Church, Spencer.
Gary will be greatly missed by his family and the numerous friends for he never met a stranger.
Survived by his wife, Terry Bolduc Alexander Mennell, mother of his children, Bonita Mennell, children, Mark (Kristine) Mennell, Dan (Vicki) Mennell, Tim (Tiffany) Mennell, Becky (Todd) Englehart, Tony (Jennifer) Alexander, Jackie (Zak) Pelka and Michelle Alexander. Grandchildren, Tony & Cory (Chayla) Mennell, Joe & Jake Mennell, Carlee & Perry Mennell, Brianna (Nate), Nicholas & Brooke Englehart, Madelyn, Emma & Anthony Alexander, Irelyn, Trinity & Zavie Pelka.
Also survived by siblings, Janet (John) Murphey, Roy Mennell, Dale Mennell and Jeff (Kathy) Mennell and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carol Mennell.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Risley Agricultural Center, 5220 Root Road, Spencer, OH 44275, where the funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 11, 2021 with the Pastor Mark Teal, officiating. Burial to follow at Chatham Cemetery. Casual attire, as Dad would say, “come as you are” he would prefer it that way. Facial masks will be required at the Risley Agricultural Center for viewing and service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested if desired may be made to the Mennell family to help defray funeral expenses.
