Franklin Hasel Obituary

Franklin C. Hasel, 97, of Valley City, OH went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 6, 2020 to join his wife of 65 years, Hazel (nee Roser) Hasel.  Frank was born on August 5, 1923 in Valley City, OH to the late Paul and Martha (nee Miller) Hasel.

Frank was a longtime resident of Valley City and a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ. He was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.  Prior to joining the union, he was a second lieutenant of the United States Air Force where he flew the P-51 Mustang.

He loved working in his garden and was a skilled wood worker.  Over the years he made many beautiful gifts for his children and grandchildren, some of which have already been passed down to his great grandchildren.  His greatest gift perhaps is his love of life and deep compassion for all things which has been deeply imprinted in his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all the people he has touched.

He will be greatly missed by his children, James (Cindy) Hasel, of Beaver, PA, Sharon Davis of Christiansburg, VA and David (Amy) Hasel of Wakeman, OH; cherished grandchildren, Michael (Gloria) Hasel and Robert (Netta) Hasel, Chad Davis, Heather Durbin (David), Andrew (Victoria) Hasel and great grandfather to Gillian and Adam Groff, Luca and Isabella Hasel, Santanna, Michael, Thomas and Lailah Durbin and Ryleigh Hasel. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Elaine Roser of Olmsted Falls and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Winston and Marvin Hasel and sisters

Charla Mae Fackler and Betty Wolff.
