Douglas A. Koorey, 71. Of Valley City, on March 12, 2022 stepped into Eternity to be with his Creator, Lord and Savior the Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but even deeper by his wife of 40 years, Nancy (nee Cook). Children: Jessica Koorey, Anthony (Heather) Koorey, Brian (Michelle) Jupina and Kevin (Kerry) Jupina. Grandchildren: Anson, Elizabeth, Nicole (Zach), Sarah (Alex), Megan and Sean. Brothers: Danny (Jill), David (Elaine), Donny (deceased), Darrell (Nancy), Damian and sister, Denise Gross. Doug was born in Cleveland, October 7, 1950 to the late Anthony and Elsie Koorey. He was a 1968 graduate of West Tech High and also attended Art school. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1969-72 in New York Harbor. Doug began making jewelry at age 14, and served as an apprentice at the prestigious jewelry company Rudolph Deutsch. Through the years he built a reputation as a well-known and accomplished artistic design jeweler. In 1972 Doug opened his own jewelry design and manufacturing shop. Doug came to know our Lord and Savior in 1975 and continued the rest of his life to spread joy, laughter and the Gospel everywhere he went with an infectious smile and zeal for service to his King. He was active with Bill Glass Prison Ministry from 1975-2019; Doug and Nancy were Directors of the Cleveland Dream Center (2001-2007); and was an enormous supporter of Appalachian Missions. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering at Diamond Event Center, 1480 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Sunday, March 27 from 1:30-4:00 PM for a time of sharing memories.
