Dorothy A. Kompier was welcomed into her Lord and Savior’s arms late Christmas Day, December 25, 2019. She passed with her husband by her side and with her children near her. She was a strong and courageous lady, who fought a battle with Parkinson’s for many years. As her family, we are grateful we were able to be by her side as she fought that long fight. She leaves behind her husband, Paul, of 65 years of marriage, who loved and adored her beyond words. Her living children Paul (Betsy) Kompier, Cindy Baratko, Patty (Will) Powell, Melissa Gant and David Kompier. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Dorothy is preceded in death by daughters, Karina Kompier and Janine Davis, grandsons James Pitman and Gary Davis and a great granddaughter Mckayla Devericks, and her parents Andrew and Mary Makuch.
Dorothy began her career as a wife and mother in 1954 when she married Paul. While being a wife and mother Dorothy worked with her clerical and bookkeeping skills for many years, to go on to become a nurse working at Medina General Hospital, where she retired. During this time, she also served as a firefighter and an Advanced EMT with the Litchfield Fire and Rescue Department. Dorothy also helped her husband milk cows and birth calves on their little mini dairy adventure.
While in her younger years she enjoyed camping, boating and water skiing. She taught herself first how to ski and then went on to learn how to swim.
Dorothy being inseparable from her husband, they always ventured together whether it be looking for lumber to remodel a home or just go to the grocery store to purchase pork to make her tasty breaded pork chops.
