Donald Earl Wilson, 75, of York Township made his final journey on November 2, 2022. Don was born in Cleveland to the late Carl and Agnes (Pearson) Wilson on June 8, 1947.
Don enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and was a member of the Rollin Thunder and PRIDE for Vets. An only child, Don had endless stories about adventures with friends. A family favorite is when they put a motor on his mother’s ironing board to make a go-kart. Don was never fond of school, but was the proud Valedictorian of The School of Hard Knocks.
He loved his country and proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Finding his “Little Piece of Heaven”, Don moved to Medina County in 1976. Don married Sue (Carnock) in 1982. They welcomed daughter Carli in 1983 and son Travis in 1985. Don’s favorite things were his family, his Harley, Rock ‘n Roll music, family vacations, telling classic jokes and tall tales, and impromptu gatherings with his many friends. His children and nieces loved that he was their personal beach chauffeur during vacations.
Don was well known for welcoming others regardless of age. He was a father figure to Joey Pasuit, Bob Tomlin and Aaron Thomas. He was fond of his lifelong friendship to many. Reconnecting with his cousins Carl and Jim in Kentucky was a highlight for Don as they shared childhood memories of his father’s family.
Don’s grandchildren Landon and Rory were the absolute light of his life.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, uncles Carl and Gust, and aunts Alice and Elsie. Don’s son Travis and father-in-law Jim were proudly waiting to guide him around the bend. We are sure more mischief between them is sure to follow.
He is survived by his wife, Sue married 40 years, daughter Carli (Jesse Laux, and grandchildren Landon and Rory. Perhaps missing Don, the most will be his cherished dog and constant companion Moe.
Family and friends are invited to a joyful celebration of Don’s life at the Wilson’s Barn on Sunday, November 6, 2022 starting at 1:00 PM. Come as you are, bikes welcome. His interment will take place 2:45 PM, Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio. (Please meet at the cemetery entrance.)
