After a courageous battle with dementia, Donald “Doc” E. Carver passed away peacefully, November 8, 2022 at the age 87.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Mary Carver. He grew up in Maple Heights, Ohio and moved with his family to Medina County in 1950. He was a skilled machinist, retiring after 43 years from the Duffin Manufacturing in Elyria as a supervisor. Don had a passion for golfing, raising roses, Model A & T outings, events, and restoration, as well as looking for bargains at swap meets. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or any part he couldn’t fabricate. Don was a member of the Bumps and Grinds Model T Club in Elyria, The Model A Club of America and a life member of the Medina Eagles Club.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 67 years, Edna J. (Mellert), children- Kimberly (Randy) Albright, Debra (Mark) Smilek, Mike (Jane) Carver and Tom Carver (Sean Cafferty). Eight grandchildren-Andrew, Rob, Adam (Nina) Albright, Jon, Liz, Adam (Reanna) Carver; and Brett and Matt Smilek; Great grandfather of six. Also survived by three brothers, Norman, Ken and David Carver.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Dick and Chris Carver.
Calling hours will be held Weds. Nov. 16, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City.
Family and friends are welcome to meet at St. Martin of Tours 1800 Station Road Valley City for the Funeral Mass, 10:00 AM, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 with Father Dan Reed, officiating. Burial to follow in St. Martin Church Cemetery.
