Cathy L. (Steingass) Gest

Cathy L. Gest, 75, of Medina, Ohio passed into her heavenly home on Friday, May 13, 2022 after a long battle with COPD.

Cathy was born January 31, 1947 in Medina, Ohio to the late Robert A. and Betty J. (Higham) Steingass.  She has been a lifelong resident of Medina County.  A former voice student at Heidelberg College, Cathy held several different jobs in her long life, including teaching piano, after school care at York Elementary and lastly associate at the J.C. Penney catalog store in Medina.  Her hobbies included basket weaving, silver smithing and currently enjoyed painting bird houses which she sold at the Valley City Fair.

Cathy will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, Robert L. Gest, daughter, Kelly Gest and son, Kyle (Michele) Gest. Grandmother of Brittany (Barry) Tanner, Amber (Ethan) Freeman, Kaylee Gest (Aaron Freeman), Jordyn, Emma, Payton and Kinsley Gest and great grandmother of 10 plus one little bundle on the way. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert J. Steingass and Gary Steingass.

Preceded in death by a brother, Richard Steingass and beloved cat Fuzzy.

Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 from 2:00-4:00PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH, followed with a service at 4:00 PM. Pastor Jim Watson, officiating.

Private Inurnment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio.
