Margaret Swingle Obituary

Margaret Helen Swingle, (nee Weigel) 90, of Litchfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 20, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born at home in Valley City, Ohio on October 17, 1928 to the late Leo B. and Florence R. (nee Schaefer) Weigel. Margaret grew up on the family farm and graduated from Liverpool School in Valley City. She married Charles Swingle on September 16, 1950 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and they have resided on their farm in Litchfield for 68 years. She loved being a homemaker and raising her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and needlework. She took great pride in her home and loved hosting the holidays with her growing family. Margaret was a life-long and faithful member of St. Martin's. She was employed by Buckeye Local Schools for 25 years as the secretary of Litchfield Elementary. She enjoyed spending her summers boating with her children and grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles, son Chick; daughters, Penny Fabich (Ron), Patty Reisner (Glen), Cindy Culp (Mike), Nancy Miller (Rick) and Jacky Maxworthy (Kevin); grandchildren, Nate, Emmy (Katie) and Abby Fabich; Sarah Mueller (Grant), Heather Doyle (John), Chris (Stephanie) and Cory Reisner; Crystal Jones (Dave), Jennie Schmid (Chris) and Adam Culp; Holly Sims (Dallas) and Kyle Miller; and Tim (Sarah), Nick and Zach Maxworthy; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters, Marie Tinl (Jack deceased) and Jean Kemp (Ray); sister-in-law, Joan Weigel (brother Robert deceased). Special thanks to Kim Davis, loving caregiver, and the staff of Hospice of Medina County for their compassionate care and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 11:30 AM, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at St. Martin of Tours Chapel, 1800 Station Road Valley City, with visitation from 10:30AM to 11:30 AM in the Gathering area prior to the Mass. Burial- St. Martin Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road Medina, Ohio 44256 or to St. Martin of Tours Building Fund. The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City has the honor of serving the Swingle family.
