LaVerne M. Borling

LaVerne M. Borling, 82 of Litchfield, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. LaVerne was born October 10, 1936 in Cleveland to the late Edmund and Clara (nee Wojciak) Stryczny, sister to Richard, Barbara (Hill) and Phillip. In 1956 she married Donald D. Borling and lived in Valley City until 1966 when they purchased a 75-acre farm in Litchfield. While raising her 6 children and tending to the farm, she also found time to be involved in many community groups, where she was known to speak her mind. She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Valley City. LaVerne enjoyed talking with the many customers who came to the family Christmas Tree Farm until she suffered a stroke in 2015. She spent the final years living with her son David and his wife Kathy, helping with their garden while she was able. Her last wish was to sing with the angels in heaven. She will be greatly missed by her children- David (Kathy), Daniel (Sandy), Alice, Ann (Dave) McQuire, Doug and Don, her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the many friends she made along the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald who lost his battle with cancer in 2000. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City and also from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Monday, July 29, 2019, where the service will be held at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, Valley City with a light lunch afterwards at the Parish Center.
